The third annual meeting of the Seddon Hall Syndicate was held' on Tuesday last, Mr J. G. Armstrong being in the chair. The audited balance-sheet was read and adopted. The receipts from all sources .amounted to £68. The chief items of expenditure were: Piano £33 10s.; interest <m mca-tgage (£100) and overdraft (£O7) £11: lighting, etc., £5; insurance £6; oleaning lavatory £2; and to caretaker and secretary £5. rhe overdraft at the beginning oH9OB was £66; on the 27th April, 1909, it was £61. The chairman and those present complimnted the secretary (Mr J. W. Humphreys) on his good work, stating that the £5 voted to him could not be considered .as adequato remuneration for the services rendered, but only as a mark of their appreciation. To sum up the position, there has been spent on buildings, land and piano—maintenance not included—£7o9, towards which the shareholders contributed £450. The -overdraft, which it is anticipated will be wiped out during the current .year, is personally guaranteed by the committee. The annual meeting of the parishioners of the Anglican Chwch of the Epiphany took place oau Thurs-; day last, the attendance being very good. The Rev. A. W. Stace occupied the chair. A statement of accounts was read and adopted. The following officers were elected: —Minister's warden, Mr Irving; People's Warden, Mr; Andrews: Vestry, Messrs Foster, A>rmistrong, Ferguson, H. Fuller, D. W. Berry, Masters, Sibbert, Hodgson, A very 'and Humphreys; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. W. HumphreviS; Lay Representative to Synod, Mr F. H. Richmond (Nelson). The report iand balance-sheet in connection with) the< Sunday School were presented by Mies' Bertry, the isame showing &, very satisfactory state of affairs. Votes of thanks were passed to the lay readers who had helped during the year, Mr White's name being specially mentioned; to Mrs H. Sharp, late organist for many years; to tihe retiring secretary and officers; and to the Sunday School teachers. It was resolved to have a vestry meeting monthly on the second Thursday. The Presbyterian Church's animal concert was held on Friday last, the Orchestral Society and a number of friends attending from Blenheim. The Rev. W. Finlayson was chairman The orchestra, under the conductorshi^ of Mr Cheek, rendered four or five items that were mtich appreciated by the large audience. Mr Tunnicliffe gave a trombone solo with orchestral accompaniment, which was highly applauded. Mr Morgan showed in his violin solos that he is a player much above the average. Misses B. Draper and Browne sang in a pleasing manner, the former being vociferously encored. An instrumental trio by Misses Healy and Lucas and Mr Cheek delighted the audience. The Misses Healy sang a very pleasing duet. Messrs Rose and Litchfield contributed songs. The latter made his appearance before a Seddon audience for the first time, and his singing gained general admiration. Mr Quartly gave some delightful recitations in his usual inimitable style. Mr Meale sang several comic songs, which brought down the house. The Rev. Mr Robb at the conclusion proposed hearty votes of thanks to all who had assisted, and these were carried by acclamation. Altogether the concert was a great success, although the public would have liked a little "Scotch" in the instrumental music, arid a little more in the singing.
"The arrangements for the Awatere Hockey Club's social are well forward, and patrons can rely on having a real good time next Friday night. Skating will commence on the evening of Wednesday, May 12. The Awatere Football Club has commenced practice. It evidently means business iihis season.
