The tennis tournament was continued to-day in fine weather. There was a l»#g© attendance, including the Governor-General. The play throughout was of a high standard. The matches between the , ladies of New Zealand and New South Wales were keenly contested, and provided excellent contests. The visitors proved too good for their opponents, and although two games are yet unfinished the New Zealanders have practically won the inter-State matches.

Following are the results: — Ladies' doubles: Misses Powdrell and Nunneley (N.Z.) beat Mrs Doyle and Miss Gardiner (N.S.W.), 4—6, 6 1, 6—4; Mrs Colquhoun and Miss Baker (N.S.W.) beat Misses Ward and .Wellwood (N.Z.)., 5—7, 6—2, 16—14; Misses Powdrell and Nunneley (N.Z.) beat Misses Lee and Jones (N.S.W.), 6—4, 4—6, 6—4; Misses Grey and Travers (N.Z.) beat Mrs Colquhoiin and Miss Baker (N.S.W.), 6—4, 6—o: Misses Ward and Wellwood (N.Z.) beat Misses Lee and Jones (N.S.W.), 6—4, £-6, Q —4. In the gam© between Mrs Doyle and Miss Gardiner (N.S:W.) and Misses Grey and Travers (N.Z.) the score stands at 6__4, -4—6. ■ ' . Ladies' singles: Miss Grey (N.Z.) beat Mrs Doyle (N.S.W,), 6—4, 6—3; Miss Travers (N.Z.) beat Miss Gardiner (N.S.W.), 6—5, 7—5; Miss Powdrell (N.Z.) beat Mrs' Colquhoun (N.S.W.), .6—4, 6—4. The match between Miss Baker and Miss Nunneley is unfinished. Miss Baker won the 'first set, 6—4, and Miss Nunneley the second, 6—2. The unfinished matches will be played on Monday. . In the ■ doubles New Zealand won 5 rubbers, 12 sets, 113 games, and •New South Wales 2 rubbers, 8- sets, 101 games. In the^ singles New Zealand won 6 rubbers, 14 sets, 118 games, and New South Wales 3 rubbers. 8 sets, 98 games. The gentlemen's contests between New South Wales and Victoria were of the keesiest character, Brookes's play being especially brilliant. New South Wales eventually annexed the inter-State championship by 11 rubbers to 10, defeating Victoria in the doubles matches by 101 games to 89. In the singles Victoria scored 117 games, and New South Wales 110.
