Advice 3 from Salonika state that Shevket Pasha has proceeded to, the i front, where he will direct- the in-« , >vestment operations. ; '' \ It is rumoured that the Sultan ig 1 preparing resistance. . ' Messages from Vienna, announce that the-National Assembly, comprising Senators and 120 Deputies, who are now at San Stefano, discussedl two motions, the first providing x for. the Sultan's deposition and the second declaring that the march of the s Macedonian army was legal, and that those resisting it were rebels. While Mukhtar was speaking against dethronement five warsnipsy ■ without Admiral Gamble,' appeared' and placed themselves at' .the Assembly's disposal. Among the factors influencing -the feeling of the Assembly .in; favour-oS dethronement was the belief that deposition had already been decided upon, that the Sheik-ul-Islani assented theretq. The Assembly, which increased to 200, postponed its decision regarding dethronement, but adopted the second motion. The deliberation will be resumed to-day. ; The ships started before the.fixed time and without Admiral Gamble, as they desired to hasten to join the constitutionalists.
Shevket, as defender of the rights of all Ottomans, has assumed the direction of. negotiations with .the Government.
