MELBOURNE, March 3. : There was a large attendance for the third day, but the weather was oppressive. Hurdles;. Alert Dream 1, Armga 2, The RijbMe 3. Won by half a length. Time, smin 47fsec. _ Ascot Vale Stakes : Sunny South 1, Mala 2, Barm 3. Won by 1£- lengths. Time, lM£in 15| sec.
AUSTRALIAN CUP: — Pewdil ' J Delenda £ Signor 3 Fla.vel, SomnaHibulist, Pendil and Dyed Garments were last into the straight. Delem<&a forged ahead on the soutside. The field closed up at Riverside, Little Lad and Flavel leading together b.y a length. Pendil improved his position at the bridge, and ran into second place. Dyed Garments and Nushka each put ma fast run on rounding the turn, and then a most exciting race commenced. P<endil, in the centre of the field, led, Delenda -challenging on the outside. Penflil was well ridden, and got home by half a length., two lengths between second and third. Five Crown was fourth. Time, 4mm O^-sec. Steeplechase: Kororvit 1, Player 2, Wolscley 3. Won in a canter by six lengths. Time, 4min lOfsec. Bourke Handicap: Maltline 1, True Sc»t-2, Monodist 3. Won easily by four lengths. Time, lmin 26|sec, Junior Handicap: Sperry 1, Apple Pie-2, Patron atus 3. Won by a length and a half. Time, lmin 15isec. ■
