BLENHEIM-PICTON RAILWAY.

TO THE EDITOR

Shr 3 -—Many complaints axe being made eof late concerning th© unpunctoial running of the trains on our local railway. Last night's train to Picton was 25 minutes late —th© Seddon one was also late in. propoirtion'. This morning the Seddon train was 15 minutes latej and the Pieton train ;20 minjutes behmd-harid. What made matters more confuising was the faot that the Seddoni train left the same platform as the Picton train,,. at ex■actly the time set down for the Picton train, which somewhat bewiiidiered _a> good many people, as no signboard is exhibited "ishowing wKere the train, is leaving for. It appears to me that all this delay is caused by th© fact that shunting has to be done •by.-th© same engine as brings the train' An. I should think that the trade of Blenheim is now 'suffipient to warrant the ■©mployment of a special engine* for shunting, and it is worth the conisideration of the; Depaa-tment whether '. it would not be good policy to make :use of on© o,f th© antiquated locomotives in th© shed at Picton in older to expedite matters. When not ©ntaged in shunting, it would probably nd plenty to do nanalm'g railway ballast, and road metal for our isttreets, which the Borough Council would be ;Mad to purchase.—lam, «tc, < : ■ ■ .. ■ . ■■■ • -citizen.;.
