WHEAT AND MEAT MARKETS

Copper, spot £59 11s 3d per ton, three months £60 8s 9d; tin, three months £133 15s; lead £13 6s 3d; antimony £9. ; Copra is quiet. South, Sea m bags £17 10s. Hemp is quiet and unchanged. Wheat: Fourteen thousand quarters of Australian December-January 'shipment and §£00 of January-Febru-ary shipment were sold at 35s 6d, and 6000 ton.s of January-February steamer shipment at 35s 10|d. Wool is animated of sale, with keen competition at full late rates. Merinos especially are wanted. To date iix7,943 bales have been offered and 198,570 sold. The following were the average prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named: Men-o-atoro 7£d, Annedale 7|d, Merrie 9Jd. Rabbits are very firm, large New Zealands retailing at i<s 6d, Sydneys 17s, Melbournes 16s ; young' Sydneys 14s 6d to 16s, young Melbournes 14s 6d to 15s 6d. ■ Sheep: Canterbury light 4£d, medium 4 l-16d, heavy 3|d; Southland, hone offering; North Island 3£d, best brands 3fd. . Lambs: Canterbury light s§d, medium 5 7-16 d, heavy 4 13-16 d; Southland s|d; North Island o 5-16 d. Beef, fores 3&d, hinds 3|d. River Plate sheep, heavy Z\d ; beef, fores 3|d 3 hinds 3|d. Shares: Waihi, buyers £8 16s 3d, sellers £8 18s 9d.
