[press association.] • PALMERSTON N., August.3l. In the Magistrate's Court to-day C. E: Harding, solicitor, was charged with fraudulently omitting to account for or pay £250 to Margaret M. Hancock.
The prosecutor, W. H. Hancock, said that he did not wish to proceed with the prosecution, as the money had been paid. • Mr Cooke, counsel for the accused, said that the money had been paid; in the morning unconditionally, and he supposed that the case would not be proceeded with: Mr Thomson, S.M., pointed out that payment of the money did not necessarily end the case, and he added that another information had been laid by, the police. , , , ~ Mr Cooke said that he had had no information on the matter till a fewminutes before the case, and he would ask for a remand. Sub-Inspector O'Donovan said that there was a prima facie case to answer. The Magistrate said that the police had adopted the proper course, and as the charges were substantially the same a remand could be granted only till two o'clock, which was done.
