A talkative old lady had just entered a chemist's shop to make a purchase. , . "And soj Mr.l," the old lady remarked, "poor old Joe D 's dead."
Yes," replied Mr X. " Died very suddenly this morning. He was in the shop here only last night." "¥es, I seed him come in," went on the customer, "an' I said to myself, 'Poor old Joe's a goner now he s started to come here for medicine.',"
The tradesman was anything but pleased* and the old lady, seeing she was misunderstood, endeavoured to set matters right—with the usual result. " I don't mean to say, Mr X.," sho explained hurriedly, " as how.your medicine killed him. Nowt o' t' soort. Old Joe never did like physio, an' I'm sartin .he'd never have took the risk o' comin' here if he nad a chance of livin'." ,
