TRENTHAM, May 2. For the second day's racing there is fine weather with a bright sun, and the course is in good order. Twelve bookmakers were licensed inside, and 19 outside. The flags are flying halfmast out of respect to the late Mr Stead.

Hurdles.—Repulse 1, Royal Blue 2, Te Kainui 3. AH started. After going half a mile Repulse took charge, and was never again headed, winning easily by half a length. Time, 2min 50sec.
