THE SECOND BENDIGO ENGINE.

The tests showed that the failure of the brakes to apply to the second engine was due to leakage in the packing of the cylinder-gland. Though ■this would affect the engine/ itself, it would not prevent the application of the brakes to the rest of the train provided that the individual sear of the vehicles was in good condition.
