SCOTTISH NATIONAL EXHIBITION.

TO THE EDITOR

Sir,-—All true Soots. are expecting ! to have the pleasure of welcoming our j Colonial friends to our Scottish National. Exhibition in Edinburgh j during May to October of the present: year. Quite apart from the substantial reminder of the Colonies by the abundance of their exhibits there is a very general desire 'to^ show in special^ manner the high regard in "which we' hold our kinsmen overseas—something that will testify to our- appreciation of the prominent part tney/ have! played in building up the Empire, j many of our countrymen are anxious! to make the meeting with our Colo- i nial friends a memorable one. The i hope is that we may be able to hold i a great day for each Colony, viz., | Canada's Day, Australia's Day, New; Zealand's Day/ South Africa's Day,1 etc. On these special days events of outstanding importance in the history of each. Colony mightbe fully ,cele-j brated and Colonial and Home rejoicings made general. Scotsmen in the j Colonies do not need to be reminded i how deep/should be'their interest in j our Scottish National Exhibition.! They will do their duty by the Mother ! Country as they have done in the past, according to Hhe true Colonial instinct ' common to all Colonists, i They will supports Scotland at a time when she is striving to spread the blessing of international friendship and goodwill. They will rally to her side. They will look upon the hills they love; they will1 foregather in Aukl Reekie• they will go to Saughton Mead, and there by the enthusiasm of their support will swell the success of Scotland's National Exhibition. They will witness the great Pageant on 13th June, which will portray-the great events in Scottish history from the earliest time. They will help to commemorate their country's hard-fought liberty on Scotland's own National Day—the 24th of June. They will meet wi' brither Scots from every airt on these All-Scots-Days. They will be proud of Scotland arid, her Exhibition, which will overstep every other event in Scotland during 1908: The fame of it has gone before ; it permeates the homes of Scotland; there is not a Soots child in all our Scottish schools that will not. know 't • me,anmg of it. Every school has been asked to contribute specimens of school-work for competition in the Schwl Industries Section, lhis is worthy of being noted. We. are hoping that -all our Colonial friends will have a safe and pleasant voyage. We send them hearty greeting and assure them that a kindly welcome awaits them, one and all on their afriyal in Auld Reekie— which is Edinburgh. ; T
