LONDON, April 17. The Bank of. England return for the. week ended Wednesday, April 15, is as follows: —^Gold coin £36,344,----;000; reserve £26,114,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities 50.06: notes in circulation £29,137,000; public deposits £10,661,000..; other deposits £41,423,000; Government securities £13,757,000; other securities £30,----033,000.
The market rate of discount for best three months' bills is 2 11-16 per cent; the Bank rate is 3 per cent.
Consols £87 2s 6d
New South Wales 4 per cents. £109 15s; West''Australian 3| per cents. '£98, 3 per cent-s. £87; the rest are unchanged. The wheat markets are dull, and dispirited, although Argentine shipments have been appreciably reduced. Prices are fairly steady. ; South Australian off coast is held for 35s 6d; early February 35s 9d. Flour is ; flat. Australian is neglected; arid there is no business. .The American visible supply of wheat is 50,098,000 bushels. Copra is dull. South Sea nominally £15 10s.
There is good demand for butter. Danish is hardening. Cheese is steady. New Zealand 61s to 625; Canada (nominal) 63s to 655. !
Silver 25 5-lGd per oz; copper, spot £55 12s^ 6d per ton, three months £59 2s 6d; tin, spot £142 ss; three months £143; lead £13 12s 6d; pig-iron 525. Sugar: German 11s 9d, first marks 13s 3d.
Bradford tops are unaltered. Waihi Junction shares: Buyers 33s 9d, sellers 36s 2d.
