DOUBLE THE STRENGTH OF • ORDINARY BEER. SLY GROG-SELLING. [press association.] WANGANUI, April 18. Eleven persons were on Thursday at I Raetihi fined £2 each and costs for i selling over-proof hop beer. The evidence showed a big trade amongst cooperative labourers on the Main Trunk Railway in this drink, and the Government Analyst pronounced some of the samples double the strength of ordinary beer. I F: Brinson, for sly grog-selling near , the Main Trunk line, was also fined £50, in default three months' irnprisoment on one information, and on a second information sentenced to three months' incarceration without the option of a fine.
