SERIOUS INJURY.
MAN FOUND UNCONSCIOUS
An occurrence of a singular nature, and one which needs explanation, took place in Grove Road last evening. About a quarter, past ten the police found a young man named Scott Harding lying on the road in an unconscious state opposite Mr Ching's old shop. Dr. Bennett was sent for, and arrived without delay. The injured man was taken to the hospital, and found to be' suffering from concussion of the brain. Drs. Bennett and Nairn performed an operation this morning, but the patient is in a very critical state. It is understood that lie went down Grove "Road after his horse, which had broken away froni the Marlbcr-. ough Hotel. The last that was seen of him prior to his being found in the state already described was that he was running down Grove 'Road, presumably in pursuit of the animal. Up till the time of writing he had only once recovered consciousness, and that for a very brief space. It is probable that he had been thrown from his horse, but unless lie lecove'rs consciousness sufficiently to be able to detail his experience it is probable that the occurrence will to some extent remain a -^nystery.
