DUNEDIN, April 15. The Hon. Mr McNab explains that he was misled by Mr Mitchell when altering clause 80. He bfelieved at the time that he was sub-manager of 'the Otekaike -estate. There is no need he says, for an amending Act. The Government has taken a -lesson from Otekaike. It has dealt with other claims since, but all were adjudged on their merits. Considerable discretion is allowed in future,, and will be takeii advantage of.
