CANVASTOWN.

The, carnival ball held here on Friday night in-the Victoria Hall was in every way a most pronounced success. The hall was well filled, there being a large crowd present, and everyone spent a very enjoyable evening. Mr W. Simpson acted as M.C. in his old popular and efficient style. The music was supplied by Mr A. Rutland, assisted by Miss Scott and Mr Luxmore. The supper was catered to by Mrs Herd and Mrs McKay, and was done full justice to by the dancers.' 1 The supper was one of the best hand round suppers ever catered for; in Canvastown. The Secretary, Mr J. Rutland, is Worthy of congratulation on the excellent manner in which the ball was carried but, and fully deserves the success which followed his efforts.
Great amusement was caused in Canvastown on Saturday at the sight of a six horse team and waggon being pushed along by; a m6tor-<sar, or viceversa, journeying on to-Nelson. ; The Davis Bros, left for Nelson on Saturday, where theylntend to reside Rafter a long and successful, stay on the Wakamarlna" goldfieJ.djs. *, v
