MARLBOURGH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of' the Marlborough Hockey Association was held on Friday evening. . ' Correspondence was received from the New Zealand Hockey Association containing information regarding rules of the competition for the Provincial Shield, and notice, of a new rule of the game regarding the throw in from touch. This provides that the side throwing in may roll the ball in any direction. . ' Notification was received from the Nelson Hockey Association that the promised visit of the Nelson representative team could not eventuate, owing to the team on tour in the North Island not having sufficient time to play in Blenheim. It was decided to send a team to Nelson, provided a suitable date on which a strong team could travel could be arranged. Mr N. Fisk was appointed sole selector of the representative team. Mr L. S. Burley, of Christchurch,' was appointed Marlborough delegate to the New Zealand Hockey Association. Permission was given to the Marlborough Hockey Club to play matches as follows:—l4th August versus Wakatu (Nelson) -,at Blenheim; 24th August versus Kiwi (Wellington), at Welling- , ton. ' i . A protest from the Waitohi Club against a goal scored by the Hinekoa Club for alleged off-side play was dismissed, and deposit returned. The matches of men's championship, second round, are to be played as follows :— C.B.C. Ay. Waitohi, 25th July, at Blenheim. C.B.C. B v. Waitohi, Ist August, at Blenheim. C.B.C. A v. C.B.C. 8., as arranged by the club.
