CANCER DISCOVERY.

Professor Yon Heyden, the greatest authority in Germany on cancer, in a remarkable article in a leading medical journal in Berlin, confirms the widely-felt belief that \ve are on the eve of remarkable discoveries regarding the treatment of this disease and its origin. , Both he and his assistant, Professor Bergell, state that after a long and complicated series of experiments they have arrived at the conclusion that the growth of cancer is due to tho loss or absence of a certain chemical substance in the liver. This substance is described as a ferment, and all healthy human beings possess it. In the livers of persons afflicted with cancer it is absent or, in insufficient quantities. The direction, therefore, which the investigations of cancer specialists will take will be to discover a method of supplying the livers of their patients with this substance.
