STEAMERS COALING WITH THEIR OWN CREWS.
STRETCHING THE IMMIGRATION ACT.

The Qrtona coaled with her own crew. The French mail-steamer Yarra coaled with her Arab crew, and got away to-day . The coaling of the Kiwarii; has 'bee* commenced by nonunionists. '"' Satisfactory arrangements Have been made for bunKe^ing the Suffolk, which reached port t<£day. A novel development has occuired'in connection wiiji the coaling of (the Tsinan. Two of her Chinese crew were engaged in the winches aboard the collier lying alongside. The strikers reported ,t%e matter to their union, and a warrant w,as issued charging the Chinese, as contract immigrants, in contravention of the Immigration Act with landing in Australia before the; Minister had approved the contract.' The Chinamen were brought before the Police Court, and remanded till tomorrow, bail being allowed.
