It has been deemed impracticable to remove the imprisoned miner Verischetti by a diving dress. The water is being lowered by 6 feet per day, and divers convey regular food supplies to him.
The Italian Consul expresses his profound thanks for the efforts of the brave diver Hughes and the efforts of others, which, he says, are so splendidly characteristic of the race.
