Forty professional gamblers, mostly Belgians, including Margut, formerly a waiter a€ Qstend and the joint owner of several clubs in Paris, have been expelled from the country. It is estimated that their gains amounted to a million sterling per annum.
The clubs were started under the Associations Law, without police supervision.
Many society women were among their victims.
