ABYSSINIA.

REPORTED FRICTION BETWEEN

BRITAIN AND ITALY

[PKESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received Jan. 7, 10.2 p.m.) ROME, Jan. 7. Regarding Mariain, the Abyssinian outlaw who in April last raided a number of Soudanese villages, II Messagero, a Roman newspaper, states that Lieutenant Pollera, who was sent to Noggera, within the Italian sphere of influence,, to inquire into the raid, acquitted the natives. The Brtisli Government, however, was dissatisfied at the result, and had the chief of Noggera arrested, after insisting on this course at Adisabeba, the Abyssinian capital, and obtaining Lieutenant Pollera's departure.

La Tribuna says that Pollera was simply recalled, and that there waa no divergence of views between Britain and Italy.
