MARLBOROUGH LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Marlborough Land Board was held yesterday. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr H. Trent), Messrs Geo. Renner, J. H. Redwood, H. M. Reader, and A. P. Seymour.

The Commissioner reported that at the auction sale held on 3rd May, 1906, the lease of lot 7, township of Ward (11 acres) was purchased by A. Van Asch at the rental of £11 per annum.—Approved. , .

Mr J. J. Johnstone forwarded plan of new accommodation house to bo erected at Clarence Bridge.—Mr Renncr was appointed to notify to Mr Johnstone what alterations to the plan the Board considered desirable.

R. B. Allen applied to have l.i.p. Section 4, Block 11, Mt Olympus Survey District (North Bank Estate), accupied by L. M. Broadbridge, offered by ballot.—G. H. Broadbridge respecthilly requested th.it the miscellaneous leases of Section 4, Block XVI, and Section 4. Block It, Mt. Olympus Survey District be allowed to "run on until 31st December, 1906, as it would put him to great loss to take his sheep off at the present time.—The Warden.signified that he had no objection to the above land being offered as open for selection.—Resolved to allow Mr Broadbridge to retain possession till 31st December, 1906.—The Board considered that owing to the known auriferous character of the country and the probabilities of future development it was not advisable to open tne land at present.. -The Manager of the Jubilee Mailing Company notified the -Board re the difficulty experienced by miners in .grazing stock owing to Mr Broadbridge having a lease of.-the land.—Deferred for Ranger's report.. G. H. Broadbridge applied, under clause 11G of the Land Act, 1893, to obtain a grazing right over Section 5, Block XVI, Pine Valley Survey. District, and on the eastern side of Top Valley.—Deferred for Ranger's report. . . A memo, was received from the Kaikoura County Council re stock resting reserve at the Ivowhai river.—Mr Reader proposed that Mr Evans be written to asking on what terms Section 203, Block >X, Mt. Fyffe Survey District could be obtained for a stockresting reserve.—Seconded by Mr Redwood, and carried.—Mr Renner moved that the Kaikoura County Council be informed as to what is being done in the matter.—Seconded by Mr Seymour and carried.*

D. G. Moore applied to lease a portion of land lying to the north of Sections 33 and 34, Block V, Wakamarina Survey District, to enable him to obr tain a better fencing line.—Mi 1 Moore to be informed"that the land cannot be dealt with until the adjoining sawmill area is cut out.

The following applications were approved (town of Ward): —J. O'Connor, miscellaneous lot No.. 11; C. W. Thomas, miscellaneous lot No. 10; J. "Bell, miscellaneous lot No. 5; H. W. Elvy,. miscellaneous lot' No. 9; N. -McGregor, miscellaneous lot No. 4°; H. Vallancej miscellaneous lot No. 8. J. A. Couper applied to lease sections 1 to 6 of 73, Block VIII, Heringa Survey District, and offered a rental of £10 10s for same.—Approved. C. Harmon wrote asking permission* to retain possession of the Picnic Reserve, Goose Bay, for two months' longer.—Mr Harmon to be,allowed to stay on the reserve for two months longer, and to be- informed that the hut on the reserve belongs to the Kaikoura County Council. ; ■ "" '. Messrs Brbwnlee' and Co. wrote stating that they expect to have cut out the Rimu Gully area in about a month's time;frpm 17th April.-^Noted. W. Lodge applied for an extension of time to erect a sawmill at " All I. Nations Creek," Wakamaviiia Survey District.—Extension of time'granted. It was resolved to cancel Tease No. 343, Sections 1 to 7, Block X, town of Seddon, sind open for application.— The land is at present leased by the Awatere Road Board on temporary lease.—Resolved that the. Stock. Department be communicated with regarding, an exchange of other land fox% the proposed stock reserve'in Seddon which is requiz'ed for township purposes; the Stock Department to" be asked not to erect any uuildmgs there- . on for the present. J. J. Hall^(lessee of" Sedti^fi 7, Block IX, Cape. Campbell Survey District), wrote asking right, of gracing over Block 22 (town map), area 2 acres Otv f 29p:—It was agreed to grant Mr ~ Hall's application at an annual .rentalof 15s per acre, equal to £1 12s Bd, and also to inform him that the intervening portion of the railway reserve, containing Gacres 2 roods, would be leased to him upon the following terms, i.e.j 12s per acre,- equal to £3 18s.—Ap.proved. . F. J. Beamsley applied for a year to year lease of that-portion of' Lake \ Grassmere adjoining Section 16, Block i 11, Cape Campbell Survey District. — Granted under Section 116 of the Land -/ Act, 1892, at a rental of £1 per acre. W. Cobeldick worte stating that his brother Ernest had left the district, and had no intention of signing hist lease, and requested that the saidlease be made out in his name only. — Granted. '

W. H,/Porter (lessee of Section "20, Block VI, Cape Campbell) wrote asking permission to cut down some limbs from williow trees growing in the Flaxbourne River near the old homestead. —Mr Porter to be informed that if Mr Loe is agreeable to allow the -willows to be cut the Land Board has no dbjection. . ■ ' V; . ■ ; ~ . •

W. B. Reeves applied on behalf of C. Roadley for a lease of the. (Inner) Chetwode Islands.—Resolved to cancel the occupation right granted to C. Roadley on 9fch February, 1904.—N0 lease or title was ever issued. ■

Joseph .Wr'ats : applied for permission to fence in a, 'small portion of scenic reserve adjoming Section 16, Block VI, Cloudy Bay Survey District. — Permission granted.' F. Parsons applied to have Section 2, Block XVIII, Cape Campbell Surveyl District, weighted with half cost of boundary fence erected by him Mr Parsons to be informed that he should make arrangements with the incoming tenant of adjoining accommodation reserve as provided by the Fencing Act. W. Chapman applied to surrender Section 4, Block 11, town of Ward; also, on behalf of M. Chapman (his sister) Section 1, Block IV, Seddon Surrender accepted. The Under-Secretary wrote with reference to C. JI. Turner's application for land at Cape Jackson, stating that it has been decided to offer the land for public competition, loaded with improvements effected by Mr Turner.—Mr Turner to be notified of the Minister's decision, and to be offered an extension of his present year-to-year lease. ' -A. Tarrank. applied, to lease the proposed scenic reserve, section 135, Block XL, Onamalutu S.D.—Lease granted from year to year under sec. 116, Land Act, 1892, at Is per annum if demanded, the lessee to act as caretaker of the reserve, eradicate noxious weeds, and prevent any persons with dog or gun from trespassing thereon. The following applications to transfer were submitted for approval: J. Keyworth to M. Key worth, l.i.p. No. 40 (s.g. run No. 40).—Approved. J. Penney to E. E. Bell (Lip. No 33), sec. 4, Block XII, Seddon.—Avproved.
