[press association.]. (Received March 12, 11.29 p.m.) PARIS, March .12. All. the-. .Government and heads of the State condoled with the inhabitants of Courrieres. The,.latest estimate is upwards or eleven hundred deaths. „ . The catastrophe created a profound impression at Paris. President Fallieres sent a representative to express his sympathy with the population. The outgoing Ministers for the Interior and for Works visited the scene. The Government is organising public relief for the widows and orphans. Press syndicates at Paris have invited private charity. The Prefect of Pas de Calais, describing the difficulty of restraining the bewildered wives and children of miners still under ground from approaching the flames which are still issuing from the ■ pits' nlouths in increasing volume and intensity, and from waylaying vehicles conveying corpses with a ' view to ascertaining their breadwinners' fate, summoned reinforcements of troops and gendarmes to maintain order. The general excitement in the district is arousing a' certain degree of apprehension.
