Rona, over a nineteen miles ocean course, took place in a ■" flukey " breeze. The Rawlnti led throughout. Once clear of the heads she soon established a long lead, and proved her excellent sea-going capabilities. She crossed the line six minutes 48 seconds ahead of the Rona. The Captain of the Rona admitted that the Rawhiti got.away from the Rona at every turn, and beat her fairly. PROPOSED KANAKA SETTLEMENT. (Received March 12, 10.2 a.rii ) • BRISBANE, March 12. Bishop Frodsham, Bishop of Nortli Queensland, submitted a scheme to the Government to provide that deported Kanakas should be sent to a special island, formed into an agricultural colony. The Bishop of Melanesia had unformed him that such a colony could easily be formed at Fiii in the Solomon group, where there were, already a hundred Christian natives settled, including many returned labourers from
