Jack Smith led all the way, and won by five lengths in limn 31sec. Select Stakes — Ebullition (8.2) 1, Melodrama (7.4) 2, Galetia (7.6) 3. Eight others started. Won by a length, a head separating second'and third horses. Time, lmin 33|sec. Place Handicap — Marmont (7.2) 1 Zepho (6.10) 2, Bright Beauty (8.0) 3. Ihree others started. Marmont Jed from the start to finish and wpn by a neck a length separating second and third horses. Time, 2miu. 41|sec. Steeplechase ~ Signet (9 0)' 1 Black Tower (9.7) 2, Airly (11.12) 3' Betting: Evens Airly, sixes Black Tower and Evening Star, eights \dviser. Tanifa lost his nder; the others tell. Champion Stakes—Tartan (9.5) 1 Proceedor (9.2) 2, Scot Free (9 0) 3' Blue Spec was the only other starter' Betting: Fives on Tartan, tens against Scot Iree and Blue Spec, twenties Proceedor. Proceedor led the first time round and into the straight. Tartan made the running at the distance and squeezed home by a head amid cheers; Scot Free a bad third.' Time Sunn 34£«ec. '
