ABSTENTION FROM ALCOHOL

LONDON, March 9. Mr Keir Hardie, leader of the Labor party, obtained the adhesion of the bulk of the Laborites and many Nationalists and others tb abstain from alcohol while the House is sitting. ' The promoters of the Miners' Eight Hours Bill propose to make a miner's day nine hours immediately, eight and a-half next year, and eight hours in 1908. The Government promised to support the second reading, and thereafter consider its further attitude.
