With regard to Mr Gilruth's resignation, the Minister of Agriculture states that Mr Gilruth had given three months' notice unless certain, suggestions he made are carried into force. Nurse Green's private hospital, a building of sixteen rooms, in Cm miner Road, Ponsonby, was destroyed by lire, on Sunday at 11 p.m. There were eight patients in the hospital, seven of whom were safely rescued. Subsequently it was discovered that Mrs Higgins, wife of Arthur Higgins, hotelkeeper. of M.aropni, Northern Wairoa, had been burned to death.
