A SERIOUS CHARGE.

AUCKLAND, Nov. 27. Wm. Fox, about 30 years of age, was arrested yesterday on a charge of assaulting a girl seven years of age at Birkenhead.
Two detectives, after spending one night in the bush watching for the offender, yesterday caught sight of the man near Takapuna. He made off on their approach, but was captured after a three-mile chase, during which he and his pursuers twice swam a week.
