The victorious team were welcomed by a crowd of two or three thousand cheering lustily. The team were received by the Rugby Union officials and driven to the Royal Hotel, and to-day were officially received -by the Mayor, who complimented them on their achieven ents. On Wednesday they fe k i part ia a match North v. South Island ac Alexandra Park. Mr Hyams, interviewed, said the forwards were undoubtedly tha best who ever represented the colony; the feature of their play was their evenness. The prediction that the backs would be found weak in defence had not been fulfilled, They defended in good style when called upon, but were usually aggressive. He regarded the Queenslanders as a more formidable combination than that of New South Wales, despite the scores against both teams,
