After farther investigation, the officials declare that seven 92 inch shells .exploded, representing three hundred and twenty-two pounds of lyddite and 3171 pounds of steel. A piece of shell weighing three pounds was carried a mile and a half into Albert Dock.

General Andre, on behalf of the French Army, sent a warm message of sympathy to the sufferers by the explosion. , ;j The Hon. Mr Brodrick thanked him for his great kindness.
