PROFITS FOR THE HALF-YEAR.

The half-yearly meeting of shareholders of the Bank of New South Wales was held to day. The balancesheet showed that the profits for the half-year had been £115,703, which, with the undivided balance from last year, gives £131,072 for distribution. A dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum absorbs £100,000, and of the remainder £15,000 is added to the re* serve and £16,072 carried forward.

The President, in his address, paid an appreciative tribute to the Victorian Government for its attitude during the railway strike. He stated that, notwithstanding the effects of tha drought, trade continues to be fairly successful, and augurs well when nor* vial seasons return.

The report for the half-year wa* adopted.
