MARLBOROUGH LAND BOARD.

Thb monthly meeting, hold on Tuesday, was attended by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Messrs Seymour, Reader, and Redwood. Mr Kenner was gi anted leave of absence. J. Hart applied for the abandoned portion of the Antimony Coy's leases. —The application was withdrawn, as the Warden reported that the section fronting tho sea was under lease, and only a temporary license could bo granted over the other two sections. The Picton Road Board's schedule of proposed expenditure o£ " thirds" and " fourths"—£6B 1757d~-was approved. The Awatere Road Board's schedule of proposed expenditure of " fourths" was approved on condition that the amounts bo spent to give access to the particular localities mentioned. Ifc was resolved to offer section 9a, Block xii, Arapawa, stock-resting reserve, by auction for 14 years at £10 per annum. The Surveyor-General wrote with further reference to the Awatere- ex change give aacl-take boundary line. — Ifc was resolved to inform the Land Purchase Inspector and the Manager of the Assets Board that tho Land Board approve of the boundary fence chosen by the Commissioner. G. Eden applied for from 100 to 200 acres of land in White Pino Valley for grazing purposes.—The application was declined, as the Warden did not consider it advisable to have the lands leased, the miners opposing. An application by W. S. Forbes to have the Motungarara Island offered for lease by public auction for 14 years was declined. E. Hart, jun., applied to exchange the tenure of pastoral run No. 39 to lease in perpatuity.—Ap£,roved. D. Boyes applied to exchange the tenure of pastoral ran 27 to L.I.P.— Approved. Mr J. Conolly wrote re Mrs C. L. Western's application to exchange the tenure of run 95 to L.1.P., arid that the run be transferred to her.—Resolved to inform Mr Conolly that the Board had no objection if the transfer and ! exchange can be effected in compliance with the law. . Re land accretion, Wairau River, it was resolved to recommend the Minister to grant the land to adjoining lessees after survey and valuation under section 117 of Land Act, 1892. Messrs Robertson and Matthews applied to surreader pastoral run 70. Mr Moore, Stock Inspector, wrote ob« jecting to the surrender being granted, as the lessees had neglected to keep down the rabbit3.—The .lessees to be informed that they must clear the land of rabbits to the satisfaction of the Stock Inspector. The Kaikoura County Clerk wrote re the vesting of the fishing reserve in Block xi, Mt. Fyffe, in the Kaikoura County Council. — Application declined. ~ , , J. T. Williams wrote asking that part section 52, Block xi, Linkwater, be weighted with then value of improvements when re offered.—Application to be granted. After consideration of reserves let from year to year, it was resolved that the leases will terminate on June 30th, 1904, in order that they may be issued on fresh conditions. Mr J. Conolly, on behalf of the trustees of the late Mr W. E, P. Clouston, applied to surrender the lease of section 16, Block xiv, Town of Seddon.— Postponed for conference with Mr Conolly. Surrender accepted if traDafer of both sections cannot be effected. Re expenditure of " fourths" on Stag and Spey Block, it was stated that the settlers could not get access. —The matter was postponed, for a report from Mr Renner. A number of cases of arrears of rent were considered, and action taken.^ Instructions having been received from the Minister of Lands, it was resolved that notice be given to all lessees in arrear that unless the rents due are paid before 12th May ensuing, they will be saed for in Court. The application of John Jacobsen for small grazing run 151, North Bank Settlement, was granted. The Ranger (Mr Bucbhurst) furni shed seven reports on holdings in the Hundalee survey district (Stag and Spey Block); and nine reports on S.G. runs in Kaitarau, Puhi Pohi and Whernslde survey districts. —Reports received.

Lessees who have not complied with conditions regarding improvements to be informed that they must do so with • put delay. J. W. Smith, jnnr., applied for one sack of grass seed in order to sow Crown lands which, had been burnt. — Resolved to inform Mr Smith that if he will sow the land the Board will weight it with the then value of the improvements if it should be opened for application. S. Hunter applied for a lease of the Tbrea Reserve at a rental of £2 per annum, and also agreed to keep down the St. John's Wort—The Commis sioner to communicato with the Head office.

The Surveyor-General wrote re the timber on S.G. Run No. I'll. (Patriarch). —The Surveyor-General to be informed that the Land Board regret that the right to take timber from Patriarch Run is given to any person other than then lessee of the S.G. Run.

Section 1, Block vi., Arapawa, held by Berg Bros,, was assessed at 8s per acre.

The following transfers wore submitted for approval s—J. P. Hogan, | lease in perpetuity over section 12, Block xi., Clifford Bay survey district; also miscellaneous leases Nos. 108 and 269 over sections 13 and 14, Block xi., I Clifford Bay, to H. E. Barnes; J. Davies, pastoral run No. 39 to E. Hart, jnnr. ; M. Casey, L.1.P., section 17, Block i., town of Sect don, to R. J. Gregg; J. H. Wells, S.G. Run 37, to E. M. Paton; G. Williams, L.T.P., sections 13, Block m, and 71, Block vxi., Cloudy Bay, to D. Boyes ; Wm. Hosking, pastoral rnn No. 27, to D. Boy©3; E. Watson, L.1.P., section 5, Block i., Taylor Pas 9, to B. Daffy, (approved subject to £58 improvements being effected.) J. K. Hart applied to transfer section 30, Block k, Wakamarina, to Miss Maud Lammas. W. A. and T. A. [Smith wrote re apportionment of: rent on S.G. Run 105, north portion to bo £32 93 6d, south £53. All the above applications to transfer were approved, subject to neces sary conditions being fulfilled. The Surveyor-General wrote with reference to W. Jones's application for section 6, Block xvi , Gore survey district.—Application granted, half year's rent and lease fso to be deposited. F. W. Stretch applied to transfer to F. Stretch, sections 21 to 32, Block v., Mt. Fyffe. — Approved subject to necessary conditions beingfulQlled. Two mortgages under the Government Advances to Settlers' Act were sanctioned.
