RIOTOUS COLONIALS.

Received July 8, 9.6 a.m.

London, July 7.

Several discharged colonials have been arrested at Capetown and Durban on charges of rioting.

The local newspapers strongly condemn their excesses, and regret that distinguished records in the field have been tarnished by disgraceful scenes at the seaports.

The Hon. Sir E. Barton is inquiring into the matter. He believes the Australians concerned are irregulars, and not connected with any of the con«

tingents.
