Having fitted on him a number of flowing garments, the Maoris placed a huia feather in his hat, threw some poi balls over his shoulder, and put a greenstone mere in his hands ; and our Chief Magistrate stood forth in full public view as a fully attired Maori chief. Mrs McCallum stood alongside His Worship during this diverting ceremony.
