Wellington, June 25.
The annual ceremony in connection with the presentation of University diplomas to students of Victoria Col lege took place to day. The Chancellor presided. The proceedings were at times uproarious, as usual on such occasions, the undergraduates being present in strong force.
The Acting-Premier promised a deputation to-day that he would recommend that £2012 be granted to the Victoria College for the preparing of a site for the building. As to the building grant, he promised to consult his colleagues. The Chairman of the Council mentioned that, though the estimate put the cost of the necessary accommodation at £40,000, Sir J. Ward said that the estimate furnished to the Government was that a plain brick building could be provided for £25,000.
