TBE LONDON MARKETS.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cable from the Agent-General, daI.ed London, the2lbt instant : —The mutton market is depressed. The average price to day for Canterbury mutton is 3-gd, Dunedin, Southland, and W.M.E. Co. mutton 3|d ; other North Island mutton, 3|d ; River Plate mutton, 3|d ; The lamb market is weak. Stocks of lamb on hand are heavy, and are widely distributed amongst agents, who are pushing sales. The average price to-day for New Zea'and lamb, Canterbury brand, if from 4gd to 4^d ; River Plate lamb, 4^d. The beef 'market is dull. New Zealand hinds, 4-fd; fores, 3|d. The hemp market is duil and speculative. New Zealand hemp, good fair Wellington grade on spot to day, is £30 nominal. July-September shipments, £27 10s. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot" seed market since Jasfc week.
