Dr. Paton, interviewed by. the; Hon. E. Barton, voiced his fears with reference to France's intention of sending a large number of convicts to New Hebrides.
Mr Barton reiterated the assurance that a watchful oj-e was being kept on all matters pertaining tp the South Seas, and quietened the fears with regard to the importation of convicts.
