Thames, June 27.
The residence of Mrs Dunne, at Parawai, was totally destroyed by fire at 4 o'clock this morning. Only two young men, her sons, were in the house. An empty house adjoining was also destroyed. The insurance on Dunne's property was £100 on the furniture and £350 on the dwelling in the Vie toria. There is £100 in the Commercial Union on the empty house.
Wellington, June 27.
At a meeting of the Wellington Land Board to-day the rangers forwarded reports on ninety four holdings, nearly all improved farm settlements. All the selectors were found to bo in residence, an I their improvements up-to-date.
