RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

. « I [UMTBB PHBS3 ASSOCIATION.! Stratford, June 18. The mail train from Wellington met with an accident last night when within two miles of Stratford. It , struck a cow straying on the line, and cut her to pieces. The engine and tbe truck and mail van were derailed, but did not leave the line. The train was going up an an incline and fairly slow, otherwise there m ght.have been a perious accident. A special train came from Sentry Hill and took the passengers and luggage to New Plymouth at 11 o'clock. The train was got on the line again at 4 a.m. this morning, and proceeded to New Plymouth.
