OVATION TO MR SGLANDERS. lUNITED PBIBB ASSOCIATION/) Nelson, December 16. At the distribution of prizes at the Nelson College last night, Mr James Solanders, recently removed from the Board of College Governors, presided. A very large audience gave him an ovation, and at the conclusion of the proceedings, /on the motion of Mr A. T. Maginnity, seconded by the Rev Mr Kempthorne, the following resolution was unanimously and vociferously carried : — That this meeting of parents and pupils past and present desires to expiesa to Mr James Sclanders its high appreciation of the great services he has rendered to Nelson College as a Governor of that institution, for a period of upwards of 18 years, and to convey to His Excellency the Governor as official visitor its extreme regret that he has deemed it necessary to terminate Mr Solanders' official connection with the College, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded through the Colonial Seoretary to His Excellency the Governor. During the evening there was frantic applause and cheers for Mr Sclanders, and the singing of " He's a Jolly Good Fellow."
