The New Zealand Agricultural Department has wired the Agricultural Department here that a consignment of apples badly affected i with codlin moth has been sent to Sydney. A local inspector found such to be the case, but owing to there being no Fruit Diseases Act he was unable to do anything m the matter. The Postmaster-General has received no official communication of the Eon. Mr Seddon's intentions respecting the San Francisco mail service beyond a letter asking New South Wales to continue its contribution until March, to enable Mr Seddon to submit the whole matter to Parliament. Mr Cook agreed to this. Pjbbth, October J4. Parliament has opened, The speech hoped the value of the output of gold for the year would be two and a half millions. Measures will be introduoed to deal with undesirable immigrants, railways and public works, the land question, free education, and State schools. It is not intended to ask for further loans, nor will the tariff be touched this session. The Hon.- S. Burt, AttorneyGeneral, has resigned.
