GENERAL BOOTH'S DEPARTURE FOR AUCKLAND. EXPLORATION OF CENTRAL AUSTRALIA. THE PREMIER AND THE BANK. [united press association.] Sydney, October 14. General Booth sailed for Auckland m the steamer Pukaki this evening. He was acoorded a great Bend off. Adelaide, October 14. Information has been received that the expedition organised by Sir Thcmas Elder to explore Central Australia has reached the coast of Western Australia all well. The expedition traversed five hundred and twenty miles without finding water. Bbisbanb, October 14. In the course of a lengthy 3peech to-night, Sir Thomas Mcllwraith referred to the difference with the Bank of England, and stated that the Bank attached unnecessary importance to his words, and although he might have used other words it could not alter the facts of the case. The Bank, he declared, was only blustering, and even now had not fulfilled its promise to ccc the colony out of its difficulty.
