THE INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC
* A SCARE IN MELBOURNE. DEATHS OF PROMINENT MEN. [united press association.] Received October 15, 1 a.m. Stdnbt, October 14. Influenza is rapidly spreading throughout the country, and several deaths have resulted. A numbsr of cases [are reported m the city. Mblbourse, October 14. The jfatal character of the influenza, is creating a widespread alarm. The Rev. Mr Rigg, President of the Wesleyan Conferencs, and Mr A. W. Musgrove, Secretary for Trade and Cuatoms, have succumbed to the epidemic. Several other prominent citizens died to-day, and. many more are m a critical condition.
