[united pbess association.] Oahabu, May 22. .'. The Oamaru licensing election petition is now proceeding. Mr H. Newton is engaged on behalf of the petitioners, and Mr A. S. Adams, of Dunedin, for the respondents. Mr Newton has just finished his speech for plaintiffs on the first petition. He argues that as the nomination papers were issued for the Licensing District of Oamaru, instead of Oamaru Licensing District, which is the name of the district gazetted, the nominations are void. May 23. The licensing election petition was heard yesterday and the Magistrate declared the election void, and a new election will take place. , ____________
