In Thurdles, Tippevary, a parly of Parnellites attacked a procession composed of anti-Parnellitea, while on its way to Archbishop Croke, and a sharp fight ensued. Both sides made use of sticks and Btones, and many of the participants were injured, especially about the head. Parnell declares that he himself has always been opposed to the Plan of Campaign, and states that m 1887 Gladstone asked the Parnellite party to suppress the Plan aa it was ruining the Liberal cause.
