A SENSATIONAL INCIDENT.
■ — « r— - (ONITED PBESS ASSOCUTION.) Christchueoh, December 18. Professor Jackson, a parachutist, attempted to ascend from: a paddock near ■ the Eailway Station this evening. A strong N.W. wind was blowing and carried the parachute against the telegraph wires close by. It became detached and Jackson jumped off, escaping unhurt. The balloon was earned over the Port Hills and across Ly ttelton Harbor, on the south side of which it was secured.
