A survey of the harbor yesterday was made by a diver named Bell, under the Collector 'of Customs' supervision, but Messrs J. C. George, E. Hind, Captain Halford and others were out m boats looking Q». All the extent of the harbor for some distance "on eg.eh gjde the beaconline was thoroughly walked" by the .diver m depths of water ranging from 19ft to 23ft, but not a rock could he find. He states 'that the bottom was uniformly level, devoid of all ridgps and rocks, and that alth'pu"li'£e pierced the sand three feet m njftc'es he could find no rqeky bottom. The' steamer breaking up so quickly m smooth water suggests that "something wrong must have been with the vessel, or she never would have gone to pieces m t}ie n^uner she has. As part of the deck and "iinicsh o£ tho woodwork and floatable cargo has been found all along the coast to the south as far as Opunake, shows that the outward curreut is m that direction.
