LAND BOARD.
Thjk Waste Lands Board met on Monday. Present : The Cbief Commissioner and Messrs Ingles, Robinson, Paul, Dive and Hodson. A memorandum wag read from tbe Undersecretary notifying the Governor's approval of the Board's resolution to offer a lease of 7,600 acres, North Bank Wairau by auction. Tbe defeirerl payment license over section I, block I (20 acres), Orieri Survey District was forftiti-d, and the Ranger instructed to take possession of the land and value the improvements if any. The undermentioned sections were asseased for sale on deferred payment as follows :— 'lore Survey District, eectiou 2, block 11.. 244 acres, £245 ; section 3, block 11., 4f> •icres, £47 ; and steps were directed to be taken to move His Excellency the Governor lo group tbe two sections together under Clause G of " The Land Act, 1877" co that they may bo taken up under one license. The Board was of opinion that after the license was is.'ued, the Board should exercise its power of dispensing with the residential condition for the first four years of the license. Messrs H. A. and A. W. Ingles wrote to the Board, asking it to agree to a transfer to Messrs A. F. Tenny and Andrew M'Lawriu of the lease of 108 acres on the north side of the Hapuka river, with the ultimate object of a timber license being issued to those per--BODB, Tbe Board approved of the proposed transfer. A renewal of the lease ot Kenepnrn Run was granted to Messrs A. S. Duncan, John Duncan, and William Duncan.
Charles Godfrey applied for a lease over about 3170 acres Arapawi Island, Queen Charlotte Sound. The Board decided to refuse the application, and, subject to tbe Governor's approval, to pat up to auction the Arapawa Bun, which includes the land applied for by Mr Godfrey, estimated to contain 6000 ices, at the upget annual rent of Id an aero, the term of the lease to be 10 years. The following assessment of land was made :— Town of Kaikoura— Sec. 221, 2rds, to be again put up to auction at the same price as before, viz., Lls. North Bank of Wnirau— p art section 40, 17 acres, L2O ; classed for sale as rural land ; applied for by J. Chaytor, to be put up to auction under tbe Marlbo - <ii' s 'h Waste Lands Act, 1877, ua ler pastoral .ease. \ Marshland Run, Cloudy Bay DistrictSection 2, Block XII, 203acr«. Classed for sale as pasture land, and assessed at 10s an acre. In the event of any other person than the applicant being the purchaser, the coat of snrvey to be added. The next auction sale was fixed for Tuesday, November 15th, 1881, at noon. It was resolved that steps be taken to procure the reservation of Sec. 340, Kaikoura Suburban, containing 9a. 2r. 34p. for a pound. It was resolved that this Board agrees to the increase m width of the road fronting Sections 186, 18c, and part 2 of 183, Kaikoura Suburban, as stated by Mr Ingles, and that the Survey Department be requested to shew the road accordingly on the official maps. The Board then adjourned.
