Melboubnk. July 29. Parliament resumed yesterday. Mr Gauu6on has resigned the portfolio of Minister of Lands. The prorogation will take place on Wednesday. The new session commences on Friday next. In the Assembly a discussion took placa m regard to the action of the late Commissioner of Trade and Customs m admitting barloy free. Clark was charged with
paitiality, and with acting ultra vires, and stated by Graves, the new Minister of Customs, that the Bystem would be discontinued. Clark defended his conduct, and then left the Chamber. Sydney, July 29. Arrived— Wakatipu, from Wellington. There are no fresh cases of smallpox.
